Nils “Nisse” Strinning was a Swedish architect and designer. He and his wife, Kajsa Strinning designed this bookshelf in the 1940s for a contest that was held by the Swedish publishers Bonnier.

In 1952 Nisse founded two companies String Design AB and Swedish Design AB and during the 1960s and 1970s, both Nisse and Kajsa designed and created an extensive catalogue of plastic items for the home. They are seen as icons of Scandinavian Modern design and the String Shelving System is seen as a modern contemporary design classic.

It is the perfect storage solution, consisting of four deep chestnut teak shelves that can be hooked at any desired height.  Each shelf has four brass hinged brackets that hook onto the white plastic coated, wire frame.

This frame is held together by hooks built into the frame work so the whole piece can be dismantled. The system can stand alone or it can be mounted to a wall.

Heights 104cm Width 29cm Depth 30cm

There are a few minor scratches on the wood but this is not very noticeable at all and just reflects the age of the piece. There are also some signs of wear on the framework but again this does not detract from the overall look and feel of the piece.

These items are vintage, so please be aware that most items will show signs of wear and tear due to their age, any major defects will be noted and shown in photographs.

Please note that this cost does NOT include delivery, the delivery cost will be quoted once address is given.
